Ingrid Calame

According to the James Cohan Gallery, Ingrid Calame's work is inspired by everyday items and things that people have gotten rid of. I like that she makes something that would normally be overlooked into something people want to look at by adding color and changing context. I particularly like the second piece because it utilizes many different colors and it looks like islands or a galaxy or what goes on in my head when I'm in a math class.
The first example looks like it was taken from a parking garage and given life by taking all the little indents and shadows in the concrete and filling them in with bright, lively colors. As you can maybe tell by now, I really like bright, lively colors.
